Elsa, an advertising director, loses her mother during a long weekend in December. Rather than confronting her grief, she throws herself into work and refuses to slow down.

After suffering a panic attack, Elsa travels to Lanzarote with her friend Patricia, hoping to escape Madrid and everything that has happened, while Bonifacio remains behind in the city.

Written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar, the film explores grief, love, friendship and complicated human relationships through the distinctive blend of drama and dark humour associated with the celebrated Spanish filmmaker.
