As juvenile delinquency spirals out of control across Japan, the government introduces the Battle Royale Act. A randomly selected school class is transported to a remote island, where every student is given a weapon and forced to fight their classmates.

When Class B of Zentsuji Middle School is chosen, alliances quickly form and collapse as the students realize that only one person is supposed to leave the island alive. Shuya and Noriko form an alliance and attempt to survive together while resisting the brutal system around them.
