Pedro Almodóvar's Bitter Christmas (2026) is an emotional Spanish comedy-drama exploring grief, complicated relationships and the consequences of avoiding painful emotions. Now the acclaimed filmmaker's latest work arrives in a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray edition!

Elsa is an advertising director living in Madrid, where her professional responsibilities dominate her everyday life.

During a long weekend in December, her mother dies, leaving Elsa facing a devastating personal loss.

Rather than allowing herself time to grieve, Elsa throws herself into her work, using her demanding career as a distraction from the emotions she cannot bring herself to confront.

As the pressure continues to build, her attempts to suppress her grief eventually become overwhelming.

Following a panic attack, Elsa realises that she needs to escape her familiar surroundings.

She decides to leave Madrid and travel to Lanzarote with her friend Patricia, hoping that a change of scenery will offer some relief.

Meanwhile, Bonifacio remains behind in the city.

Away from her usual routine, Elsa has an opportunity to reflect on her circumstances, although escaping physically does not necessarily mean leaving emotional difficulties behind.

Written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar, Bitter Christmas explores loss, emotional vulnerability and human relationships through the distinctive perspective of one of Spain's most celebrated filmmakers.

The ensemble cast includes Bárbara Lennie, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Milena Smit, Rossy de Palma and Patrick Criado.

This UK Curzon Film World 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray edition presents the film in 2160p 4K resolution with English subtitles.

The two-disc release includes a booklet and additional physical collectible material, with a slipcover included in the original pressing.

A compelling addition to any Pedro Almodóvar collection or library of contemporary European cinema!
