The Big Combo (1955)

Directed by Joseph H. Lewis, The Big Combo is a dark and stylish film noir classic exploring the brutal conflict between organized crime and obsessive justice.

Honest police lieutenant Leonard Diamond (Cornel Wilde) is determined to bring down the ruthless crime boss Mr. Brown (Richard Conte). His investigation becomes increasingly complicated by Brown's beautiful and mysterious mistress Susan Lowell (Jean Wallace), toward whom Diamond develops a powerful attraction.

As Diamond attempts to destroy Brown's criminal empire, he encounters savage violence, intimidation, and torture. With the help of the gangster's former girlfriend, he continues his dangerous pursuit of the underworld kingpin.

The Crooked Way (1949)

Directed by Robert Florey, The Crooked Way stars John Payne as Eddie Rice, a war veteran suffering from amnesia who returns to Los Angeles in search of his forgotten past.

As he struggles to recover his identity, Eddie discovers that dangerous figures from the criminal underworld recognize him, even though he has no memory of them. With old enemies closing in and buried secrets emerging, he finds himself trapped in a deadly world of betrayal, crime, and revenge.

This special release from Ignite Films brings together two memorable examples of classic American film noir.
