An American reporter travels to the Australian Outback to meet eccentric crocodile hunter Mick "Crocodile" Dundee. Impressed by the larger-than-life Australian adventurer, she invites him to travel with her to New York City.

Once in the big city, the tables are turned. Perfectly at home in the Australian wilderness, Dundee suddenly finds himself in a completely unfamiliar environment, where his straightforward attitude and unconventional survival skills lead to a series of comic encounters.
