Jack Nicholson directs and stars in the offbeat western comedy Goin' South, now available in this Swedish Retro Film Blu-ray edition.
Outlaw Henry Moon is captured while attempting to escape to Mexico and finds himself facing the gallows. His only chance of survival comes from an unusual post-Civil War law allowing an unmarried or widowed woman to save a condemned man by marrying him.
Mine owner Julia Tate needs a man to help work her property and decides to marry Henry. Their relationship is based entirely on necessity rather than romance, and the two quickly discover that they have very little in common.
What follows is an unconventional blend of western, romance and comedy, as Henry struggles to adapt to his new life while the local sheriff makes it very clear that leaving Julia is not an option.
Directed by Jack Nicholson, the film also stars Mary Steenburgen, Christopher Lloyd, John Belushi, Veronica Cartwright and Richard Bradford.
