Robert Altman's acclaimed Gosford Park combines British society drama, sharp comedy and a classic murder mystery. The film was inspired by Jean Renoir's The Rules of the Game.

The film's Academy Award-winning original screenplay was written by Julian Fellowes, who later created the legendary television series Downton Abbey, set in a similarly divided world of aristocrats and servants.

In addition to its Academy Award, Gosford Park won two BAFTAs – Best British Film and Best Costume Design – as well as a Golden Globe for Robert Altman's direction.

The cast includes Maggie Smith, Ryan Phillippe, Michael Gambon, Kristin Scott Thomas and Tom Hollander.
