What happens when civilisation collapses overnight? Directed by and starring Ray Milland, Panic in Year Zero! (1962) is a chilling Cold War-era survival thriller about a family struggling to survive in the aftermath of nuclear devastation.

Harry Baldwin and his family set out on a peaceful fishing trip, but their journey takes a terrifying turn when a massive explosion lights up the horizon. They soon realise that Los Angeles has been destroyed in a nuclear attack.

As society rapidly descends into chaos, roads become crowded with desperate refugees, looting spreads and violence erupts everywhere.

Determined to protect his family, Harry leads them into the mountains, where he gathers supplies by increasingly desperate means and establishes a shelter inside a cave.

But survival comes at a terrible price. As the rules of civilisation disappear, Harry must confront the difficult moral choices required to keep his loved ones alive.

Directed by Ray Milland, who also delivers the central performance, Panic in Year Zero! combines science fiction, suspense and social commentary in a disturbing vision of a world stripped of law and order.

Starring Ray Milland, Jean Hagen, Frankie Avalon, Mary Mitchel, Joan Freeman and Richard Bakalyan.

This UK Radiance Films Blu-ray edition presents the film in 1080p high definition with its original English LPCM mono soundtrack.
