Their plan sets off a chain of events from which there is no escape. Passion, betrayal, guilt and fate draw the pair deeper into the consequences of their actions.
Directed by Tay Garnett, this acclaimed 1946 adaptation of James M. Cain's novel remains one of the best-known examples of classic American film noir.
The film stars Lana Turner, John Garfield, Cecil Kellaway, Hume Cronyn, Leon Ames and Audrey Totter.
