In 1889, reclusive gun-for-hire Cole Brandt travels across the barren Arizona desert, bringing wanted fugitives to justice – dead or alive. But behind his work lies a deeply personal mission: Brandt is searching for the men responsible for murdering his wife and child five years earlier.

His journey eventually takes him to the lawless town of Dead River, where the residents live in fear of outlaw Travis McCain and his gang. Brandt agrees to protect the Majestic Saloon, owned by Thomas Morgan and his wife Sarah, placing himself directly in the path of McCain's reign of terror.

Brandt also encounters Cassey May, a young woman working at McCain's Raven brothel and hotel. As tensions rise, Brandt finds himself drawn into a confrontation that could finally bring justice to Dead River.

Directed by Dustin Rikert, The Gundown, released in Finland as True Gun, is a traditional Western tale of revenge, outlaws and frontier justice.
