An engineer and his colleagues travel from Tehran to a remote village in Iranian Kurdistan. The locals assume the visitors are archaeologists or telephone engineers, but their true purpose remains a mystery.

The villagers become increasingly curious about the visitors' unusual behaviour and their particular interest in the health of an ailing elderly woman. As their stay continues, the experience leads to an unexpected contemplation of the community, life and death.
